Assist Step Rear Bracket Replacement (B3L)

Removal Procedure

1. Extend the assist steps in the vehicle personal optimization chapter in the owners manual.

Note

Closing the doors will not re-tract the assist steps.

2. Scroll to Deploy Running Boards on the navigation screen.
3. Put the assist steps in the extended position.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

5. Assist Step Shield Bolt (2) » Remove [2x]
6. Assist Step Shield (1) » Remove

7. Assist Step Rod Bolt (2) @ Assist Step Rear Bracket (1) » Remove
8. Support the assist step with a suitable jack.

9. Assist Step Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
10. Assist Step Bracket Bolt (2) » Remove [2x]

11. Disengage the assist step rear bracket (1) from the assist step rod (2).
12. Remove the assist step rear bracket (1) and using mechanics wire, support the assist step rod  (2).

13. When removing the assist step rear bracket, make sure the assist step anchor plate (1), does not move along the track. Installation Procedure

14. Engage the assist step rear bracket (1) to the assist step rod (2).

15. Assist Step Bolt (1) » Loosely install [3x]

Refer to Fastener Caution.

3. Assist Step Rod Bolt (2) @ Assist Step Rear Bracket (1) Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

4. Assist Step Bracket Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

5. Assist Step Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

6. Remove the assist step support jack.

7. Assist Step Shield (1) » Install

8. Assist Step Shield Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

9. Lower the vehicle.
