A high-intensity black light will make the dye glow: Green or Yellow Illuminate the area(s) of concern For example: G18 High Pressure Fuel Pump Q17 Fuel Injector Fuel Line Fuel Rail Reference Information Special Tools GE-28428-E High-Intensity Black Light Kit GE-42220 Universal 12 V Leak Detection Lamp Circuit/System Verification

  1. Perform the following action: Clean all of the components in the suspected area using a cleaning solution and allow the components to dry: Fuel System
  1. Perform the following action: Add 237 mL (8 US fl oz) of GM Approved Oil Dye to the component: Fuel Tank — Primary
  2. Engine » Idling — For 3 to 5 min
  3. Use the special tool: GE-28428-E High-Intensity Black Light Kit or GE-42220 Universal 12 V Leak Detection Lamp & Illuminate the area(s) of concern Verify there are no leaks in the component/system: High Pressure Side of the Fuel System or Low Pressure Side of the Fuel System ⇒ If a leak is present Repair or replace as necessary ⇓ If no leak is present
  4. All OK.
