Conditions for Running the DTC Battery Voltage = Greater than 11 V Engine = Running Frequency the DTC runs = Continuously — After the running conditions are met Conditions for Setting the DTC Condition 1 Control module K20 detects: Open/High Resistance @ Ignition circuit — For less than 1 s Condition 2 Control module K20 detects: Internal Malfunction — For less than 1 s Actions Taken When the DTC Sets DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type A DTC Conditions for Clearing the DTC DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type A DTC Diagnostic Aids High resistance in the circuits of the component Q17 may set DTC P062D without setting control circuit DTC(s).   1. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
  2. Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system: KR75 Engine Controls Ignition Relay ⇒ If a related DTC is set Refer to: DTC P0685-P0687, P0689, P0690, P1682, P16BC, P16BD, or P16BF ⇓ If a related DTC is not set
  3. Engine » Cranking — For 10 s Verify the function: Engine = Running ⇒ If the function does not work Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If the function works
  4. Verify a condition does not exist with the component: Engine — The engine should not stumble/stall. Perform the action while monitoring the component: Wiggle the harness and connector: K20 Engine Control Module Wiggle the harness and connector: X50A Fuse Block - Underhood ⇒ If a condition exists Repair as necessary » Wiring / Terminal(s) / Electrical Connector(s) ⇓ If no condition exists
  5. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data. Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC sets Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If the DTC is not set
  6. All OK. Circuit/System Testing
  7. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems » Off
  8. Verify the fuse is not open: F90UA Fuse @ X50A Fuse Block - Underhood ⇒ If the fuse is open 2.1. Disconnect the electrical connector: X1 @ K20 Engine Control Module 2.2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Output terminal @ F90UA Fuse & Ground ⇒ If less than infinite resistance » Repair the short to ground on the circuit. ⇒ If infinite resistance » Replace the component: K20 Engine Control Module ⇓ If the fuse is not open
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector: X1 @ K20 Engine Control Module
  1. Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: { Sierra / Silverado } Ignition circuit terminal 46 @ Control module harness & Output terminal @ F90UA Fuse { Escalade / Tahoe / Yukon } Ignition circuit terminal 69 @ Control module harness & Output terminal @ F90UA Fuse ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇓ If less than 2 Ω
