Circuit/System Description For an overview of the component/system, refer to: Transfer Case Description and Operation Conditions for Running the DTC C05DD 54, C05DD F3 Ignition = On System Voltage = 9 to 17.5 V C05DD 98 Ignition = On System Voltage = 9 to 17.5 V Wheel Speed Signal = Valid C05DD 67 Ignition = On System Voltage = 9 to 17.5 V Transfer Case Clutch Torque = Enabled C05DD F4 Ignition = On System Voltage = 9 to 17.5 V Range Actuator Position Sensor — Signal = Valid Conditions for Setting the DTC C05DD 54 Calibration/Software = Not Learned — 20 times . C05DD 98 Calculated Clutch Temperature = Greater than a predefined threshold C05DD 67 Condition 1 Transfer Case Clutch Torque = Enabled Torque Error — 10 times For 10 consecutive events. Condition 2 Transfer Case Clutch Torque = Enabled Torque Error — 10 times Wheel Slip Status = Greater than a predefined threshold C05DD F3 Transfer Case Clutch = Worn C05DD F4 Condition 1 Range Actuator Position Sensor = Maximum Travel Exceeded — 170 degrees The above condition(s) must occur 10 times. Condition 2 Transfer Case Range Position Sensor = Maximum Travel Exceeded — 170 degrees The above condition(s) must occur 10 times. Actions Taken When the DTC Sets C05DD 54 Transfer Case Clutch Torque — Maximum Shifting = Enabled Driver Information Display = Service 4WD C05DD 98 4WD High/Locked = Transfer Case Clutch Torque — Disabled 4WD Low = Transfer Case Clutch Torque — Reduced Front Axle = Disengaged Driver Information Display = Service 4WD C05DD 67 Shifting = Enabled Transfer Case Clutch Torque — Reduced Driver Information Display = Service 4WD C05DD F3 Shifting = Disabled Front Axle = Disengaged Driver Information Display = Service 4WD C05DD F4 Transfer Case Clutch Torque — Reduced /Disabled Driver Information Display = Service 4WD Conditions for Clearing the DTC The conditions for setting the DTC no longer exist. Perform the scan tool learn/reset function: Range Actuator Learn Refer to: Transfer Case Range Actuator Learn A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles.   1. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
  2. Verify there are no other DTCs set, except for DTC C05DD. ⇒ If any other DTCs are set Diagnose other DTCs first. ⇓ If no other DTCs are set
  3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. Verify the following parameters are within 1.6 km/h (1 MPH) of each other: Electronic Brake Control Module - Left Front Wheel Speed Signal Electronic Brake Control Module - Right Front Wheel Speed Signal Electronic Brake Control Module - Left Rear Wheel Speed Signal Electronic Brake Control Module - Right Rear Wheel Speed Signal ⇒ If not within 1.6 km/h (1 MPH) of each other Refer to: DTC C0500-C0504, C0506-C0510, or C0512-C0516 ⇓ If within 1.6 km/h (1 MPH) of each other
  4. Perform the scan tool learn/reset function: Range Actuator Learn Refer to: Transfer Case Range Actuator Learn
  5. Verify DTC C05DD is not set. ⇒ If the DTC sets Mechanical Condition — Transfer Case Clutch Pack Assembly Refer to: Transfer Case Disassemble ⇓ If the DTC is not set
  6. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC.
  7. Verify DTC C05DD is not set. ⇒ If the DTC sets Mechanical Condition — Transfer Case Clutch Pack Assembly Refer to: Transfer Case Disassemble ⇓ If the DTC is not set
  8. All OK. Repair Instructions Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the repair: Diagnostic Repair Verification
