Airbag Side Impact Rear Sensor Replacement (without 9C1) Removal Procedure

Warning

Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary: The seat cushion frame The seat recliner, if equipped The seat adjuster The seat back frame Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

2. Place the rear seat (1) in the fold and tumble position.

3. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

5. Rear Seat Belt Retractor Sleeve (1) » Reposition
6. Rear Seat Belt Anchor Plate Bolt (2) » Remove

7. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Remove
8. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Remove

9. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
10. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Reposition

11. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
12. Reposition the quarter lower rear trim panel (1) to access the airbag side impact rear sensor.

Note

Integral sensor assembly bolt uses Left Hand threads. Use counterclockwise rotation to loosen bolt at TORX® tip end. If accessing at pan head end of the bolt, use clockwise rotation to loosen bolt.

13. Loosen the fastener and slide the sensor out of the keyhole slot.

14. The bolt is integral to the sensor, Do NOT remove separately.

15. Disconnect the electrical connector.

17. Connect the electrical connector.

18. Slide the sensor (1) into the keyhole slot.

4. Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel (1) » Install

5. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Install

6. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

7. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

8. Rear Seat Belt Retractor Anchor Plate Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

9. Rear Seat Belt Retractor Sleeve (1) » Reposition

10. Rear Side Door Sill Garnish Molding (1) » Install

11. Return the rear seat (1) to the original position.

12. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
