Headlining Rear Trim Panel Replacement (LWB)

Caution

If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced. Removal Procedure

2. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Remove

4. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

Note

The body lock pillar upper trim panel does not need to be fully removed from the vehicle.

6. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Remove

8. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

Note

The body lock pillar upper trim panel does not need to be fully removed from the vehicle.

10. Insert a suitable flat-bladed plastic trim tool between the rear seat position center reading and courtesy lamp (1) and headlining trim panel (2).
11. Separate the rear seat position center reading and courtesy lamp (1) from the headlining trim panel (2).

12. Pull downward to release the retaining tabs.
13. Disconnect the electrical connector.

15. Insert a suitable flat-bladed plastic trim tool between the cargo center courtesy lamp (1) and headlining trim panel (2).
16. Separate the cargo center courtesy lamp (1) from the headlining trim panel (2).

17. Pull downward to release the retaining tabs.
18. Disconnect the electrical connector.

20. Place the rear 2 coat hook (2) in the open position.

23. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
24. Pull the body side rear window garnish molding (1)  outwards enough to access the tether fastener.

37. Disconnect the rear seat belt mini-latch (1).

38. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs.
39. Rear Seat Center Belt Opening Bezel - 3rd Row Seat (1) » Remove
40. Feed the 3rd row seat center belt through the rear seat center belt opening bezel (1).
41. Feed the back half of the seat belt opening bezel through the headlining opening.

45. Using a suitable trim tool, gently pry and pull downwards on the rear seat belt opening bezel  (2) to release the retaining clip on both sides of the vehicle.
46. Rear Seat Belt Opening Bezel (2) » Remove [2x]
47. Pull down at the rear of the headlining front trim panel to disengage the retaining clips and to gain access to the trim panel retainers holding the headlining rear trim panel.

Note

Prior to removal, note the routing of the wire harness to aid in reassembly and to ensure proper installation.

48. Headlining Trim Panel Retainer (1) » Remove [2x]
49. Disengage the retaining clips (2) at the rear of the headliner rear trim panel.
50. Lower the headlining rear trim panel (3).
51. Disconnect the electrical connector.
52. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headlining rear trim panel (3) from the vehicle through the liftgate opening.
53. Transfer components as necessary.
54. If transferring or replacing the wiring harness. Take note of the wiring harness locations and measure the harness lead length prior to removing. Mark harness routing locations on new headlining trim panel prior to harness removal.

Note

Use a camera to take pictures and use a pencil to mark the new headlining trim panel. Use fiber or plastic trim tool to assist in removing the wiring harness from the headlining trim panel, taking care not to damage the harness. Remove excess glue and material from the wiring harness and re-tape areas where the tape was removed or damaged. Installation Procedure

1. Install the headlining wiring harness, if necessary. Lay the wiring harness on the new headlining rear trim panel (3) to confirm correct routing and ensure harness leads are proper length for mating connections prior to gluing. Use hot melt adhesive to install the wiring harness. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers Apply insulator tape over glued locations to prevent squeaks and rattles as needed.

2. With the aid of an assistant, position the headlining rear trim panel (3) into the vehicle through the liftgate opening.

3. Connect the electrical connector.

4. Engage the retaining clips (2) at the rear underside of the headlining rear trim panel (3).

6. Headlining Trim Panel Retainer (1) » Install [2x]

7. Push up at the rear of the headlining front trim panel to engage the retaining clips.

8. Rear Seat Belt Opening Bezel (2) » Install [2x]

9. 3rd Row Seat Belt Guide (1) » Install [2x]

10. Rear Seat Belt Guide Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

11. 3rd Row Seat Belt Guide Cover (1) » Close

12. Feed the back half of the seat belt opening bezel through the headlining opening.

13. Feed the 3rd row seat center belt through the rear seat center belt opening bezel (1).

14. Rear Seat Center Belt Opening Bezel - 3rd Row Seat (1) » Install

15. Connect the rear seat belt mini-latch (1).

16. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding (1) » Reposition

17. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

18. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Tether Retaining Clip (2) » Install

19. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

Note

Position the body side rear window garnish molding tether in the same position as before the molding removal.

20. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding (1) » Install

21. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding (1) » Reposition

22. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

23. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Tether Retaining Clip (2) » Install

24. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

Note

Position the body side rear window garnish molding tether in the same position as before the molding removal.

25. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding (1) » Install

26. Coat Hook (2) » Install [2x]

27. Coat Hook Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

28. Connect the electrical connector.

29. Cargo Center Courtesy Lamp (1) » Install

30. Apply pressure upward on the cargo center courtesy lamp (1) to engage the retaining tabs.

31. Connect the electrical connector.

32. Rear Seat Position Center Reading and Courtesy Lamp - Rear (1) » Install

33. Apply pressure upward on the rear seat position center reading and courtesy lamp (1) to engage the retaining tabs.

34. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Reposition

35. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

36. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

37. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Reposition

38. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

39. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

40. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
