Circuit/System Description The K19 Suspension Control Module supplies a 5 V reference signal to each B161 Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor. The B161 Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor supply a signal of 0.5–4.5 V to the K19 Suspension Control Module. The sensors are also grounded through the K19 Suspension Control Module. Conditions for Running the DTC Battery voltage is between 9–16 V. Ignition is ON. Conditions for Setting the DTC The K19 Suspension Control Module measures a B161 Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor signal less than 0.5 V or greater than 4.5 V for more than 1.5 s. Action Taken When the DTC Sets The K19 Suspension Control Module sends a message to the instrument panel cluster to display SERVICE SUSPENSION SYSTEM message. Conditions for Clearing the DTC A present DTC will clear on the next consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycle. A history DTC will clear after 41 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles. Diagnostic Aids The low reference circuit only has a direct path to ground when the module is awake. With the ignition off and module asleep, a reading of infinite resistance is normal. - Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF. Disconnect the connector at the appropriate B161 Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor: DTC C102E = B161LF Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor — Left Front DTC C1030 = B161LR Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor — Left Rear DTC C1031 = B161RF Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor — Right Front DTC C1032 = B161RR Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor — Right Rear
- Ignition ON.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 2 and B+. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 3.1. Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance: DTC C102E = Circuit 1099 DTC C1030 = Circuit 1833 DTC C1031 = Circuit 1105 DTC C1032 = Circuit 1108 ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the circuit fault. ⇓ If an open/high resistance is not found 3.2. Replace the K19 Suspension Control Module. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Test for 4.8–5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal 1 and ground. ⇒ If less than 4.8 V 4.1. Test the appropriate circuit for a short to ground: DTC C102E = Circuit 1817 DTC C1030 = Circuit 1818 DTC C1031 = Circuit 1819 DTC C1032 = Circuit 1820 ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the circuit fault. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 4.2. Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance: DTC C102E = Circuit 1817 DTC C1030 = Circuit 1818 DTC C1031 = Circuit 1819 DTC C1032 = Circuit 1820 ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the circuit fault. ⇓ If an open/high resistance is not found 4.3. Replace the K19 Suspension Control Module. ⇒ If greater than 5.2 V 4.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the K19 Suspension Control Module, ignition ON. 4.2. Test the appropriate circuit for a short to voltage: DTC C102E = Circuit 1817 DTC C1030 = Circuit 1818 DTC C1031 = Circuit 1819 DTC C1032 = Circuit 1820 ⇒ If a short to voltage is found, repair the circuit fault. ⇓ If a short to voltage is not found 4.3. Replace the K19 Suspension Control Module. ⇓ If between 4.8–5.2 V
- Verify the appropriate scan tool Vertical Wheel Acceleration parameter is less than 1 V. ⇒ If 1 V or greater 5.1. Test the appropriate circuit for a short to voltage: DTC C102E = Circuit 1100 DTC C1030 = Circuit 1103 DTC C1031 = Circuit 1106 DTC C1032 = Circuit 1109 ⇒ If a short to voltage is found, repair the circuit fault. ⇓ If a short to voltage is not found 5.2. Replace the K19 Suspension Control Module. ⇓ If less than 1 V
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal 1 and the signal circuit terminal 3, engine RUNNING.
- Verify the appropriate scan tool Vertical Wheel Acceleration parameter is greater than 4.8 V. ⇒ If less than 4.8 V 7.1. Test the appropriate circuit for a short to ground: DTC C102E = Circuit 1100 DTC C1030 = Circuit 1103 DTC C1031 = Circuit 1106 DTC C1032 = Circuit 1109 ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the circuit fault. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 7.2. Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance: DTC C102E = Circuit 1100 DTC C1030 = Circuit 1103 DTC C1031 = Circuit 1106 DTC C1032 = Circuit 1109 ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the circuit fault. ⇓ If an open/high resistance is not found 7.3. Replace the K19 Suspension Control Module. ⇓ If 4.8 V or greater
- Test or replace the appropriate B161 Vertical Suspension Acceleration Sensor. Repair Instructions Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the repair.
