Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Removal and Installation Single Use Fasteners and Components Instrument Panel Airbag Removal Procedure

Warning

Warning

Caution

If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

3. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

5. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

7. Instrument Panel Trim Pad Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]
8. Instrument Panel Trim Pad (2) » Remove
9. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

10. Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate Bolt (1) » Remove
11. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

13. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.
14. Pull down the windshield garnish molding (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
15. Access the windshield garnish bolt (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish molding (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar.

18. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

22. Disconnect the electrical connector.

23. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

29. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

Use care not to bend or deform the thin area of the instrument panel trim pad.

The instrument panel upper trim panel and instrument panel airbag will be removed as an assembly.

58. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel (1) with the aid of an assistant. Installation Procedure

59. Install the instrument panel upper trim panel (1) with the aid of an assistant.

60. Connect the electrical connector.

4. Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate (2) » Install

5. Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bolt (1) » Tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

6. Connect the electrical connectors.

7. Instrument Panel Transmission Shift Opening Cover (2) » Install

8. Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [6x] — Fastener Specifications

9. Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [15x] — Fastener Specifications

10. Connect the electrical connector.

11. Radio Front Speaker (2) » Install

12. Radio Front Speaker Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

13. Radio Front Speaker Grille (1) » Install

14. Windshield Garnish Molding (3) » Install

15. Windshield Pillar Assist Handle Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

16. Windshield Pillar Assist Handle Cover (1) » Install [2x]

17. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

18. Connect the electrical connector.

20. Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [6x] — Fastener Specifications

21. Instrument Panel Center Trim Plate Applique (1) » Install

22. Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique (1) » Install

23. Instrument Panel Fuse Block Access Hole Cover (1) » Install

24. Connect the electrical connector.

25. Radio Front Center Speaker (2) » Install

26. Radio Front Center Speaker Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

27. Connect the electrical connector.

28. Instrument Panel Extension (1) » Install

29. Connect the electrical connector.

30. Radio Front Speaker (2) » Install

31. Radio Front Speaker Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

32. Radio Front Speaker Grille (1) » Install

33. Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

34. Align the retaining clips with the slots in the A pillar and press the windshield garnish molding  (1) into place.

35. Windshield Garnish Molding (1) » Install

36. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

37. Connect the electrical connectors.

38. Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate (2) » Install

39. Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

40. Connect the electrical connectors.

41. Instrument Panel Trim Pad (2) » Install

42. Instrument Panel Trim Pad Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

43. Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique (1) » Install

44. Instrument Panel Fuse Block Access Hole Cover (1) » Install

45. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Outer Filler (1) » Install

46. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
