Diagnostic Fault Information
The control module contains a microprocessor used to process input data to control outputs. The control module receives information from a variety of sensors, switches and serial data information from other control modules. This information is used to control a combination of solenoid valves to obtain the correct line pressure, gear ratio and torque converter clutch operation.
Conditions for Running the DTC
P2796, P2798, P2799
Battery Voltage = Greater than 9 V
Ignition and Start Signal = 9 to 32 V
Ignition and Start Switch Signal = On

DTC P171A, P171B, P171C, U0101, P182E, P1915 = Not set
DTCs related to the following system/component = Not Set
– B13 Automatic Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor
– B14A Automatic Transmission Output Speed Sensor
– B14C Automatic Transmission Input Speed Sensor
– B26 Crankshaft Position Sensor
– B303 Transmission Range Sensor
Autostop = Active — For greater than 1.2 s
Battery Voltage = Greater than 9 V
Ignition and Start Signal = 9 to 32 V
Ignition and Start Switch Signal = On
Propulsion Active = Yes
Transmission Fluid Temperature = 0 to 110°C (32 to 230°F)
Transmission Range = D, L, M
Frequency the DTC runs = Continuously — After the running conditions are met

Automatic Transmission Auxiliary Fluid Pump Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run
or Okay
Automatic Transmission Auxiliary Fluid Pump Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run
or Okay
Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Pump Relay Control Circuit Open Test Status = Not Run or
Okay
⇒ If not the specified state

⇓ If the specified state
Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the
vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.

All OK.
Circuit/System Testing
Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems » Off
Disconnect the electrical connector: X1 @ T12 Automatic Transmission
Test for less than 10 Ω between the test points: Ground circuit terminal 17 @ X1 (harness
side) & Ground
⇒ If 10 Ω or greater
3.1. Disconnect the ground connection: G103
3.2. Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: Ground circuit terminal 17 @ X1 (harness
side) & G103
⇒ If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
⇒ If less than 2 Ω » Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
⇓ If less than 10 Ω
Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 10 @ X1 (harness
side) & Ground
⇒ If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is OK
5.1. Remove » Test Lamp
5.2. Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 10 @ X1 (harness side)
& Output terminal @ X50A
⇒ If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
⇒ If less than 2 Ω » Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
⇒ If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is open
5.1. Remove » Test Lamp
5.2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 10 @ X1 (harness
side) & Ground
⇒ If less than infinite resistance » Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
⇒ If infinite resistance If infinite resistance » Replace the component:
⇓ If the test lamp turns On
Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Control circuit terminal 18 @ X1 (harness side)
& Ground
⇒ If greater than 1 V
Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
⇓ If less than 1 V
Test for greater than 5 Ω between the test points: Control circuit terminal 18 @ X1 & Ground
⇒ If less than 5 Ω
Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
⇓ If greater than 5 Ω
Test for less than 5 Ω between the test points: Control circuit terminal 18 @ X1 & The other
end of the circuit
⇒ If greater than 5 Ω
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
⇓ If less than 5 Ω
Remove the component: Automatic Transmission Fluid Pan
Disconnect the component: G5 Automatic Transmission Auxiliary Fluid Pump
Connect the electrical connector: X1 @ T12 Automatic Transmission
Test for battery voltage between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 1 & Ground circuit
terminal 3 @ G5 Automatic Transmission Auxiliary Fluid Pump
⇒ If less than battery voltage
Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness
⇓ If battery voltage
Test for less than 5 Ω between the test points: Control circuit terminal 4 & The other end of
the circuit
⇒ If greater than 5 Ω
Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness
⇓ If less than 5 Ω
Test for less than 5 Ω between the test points: Control circuit terminal 3 & The other end of
the circuit
⇒ If greater than 5 Ω
Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness
⇓ If less than 5 Ω
Refer to: Diagnostic Fault Information & Verify the conditions listed in the table do not exist
⇒ If a condition exists
Repair or replace as necessary
⇓ If no condition exists
Test or replace the component: G5 Transmission Fluid Pump - Electric/Auxiliary
