The DTC indicates an emission related DTC set in the following control module: K9 Body Control Module K16 Battery Energy Control Module K17 Electronic Brake Control Module or K160 Brake System Control Module K20 Engine Control Module K38 Chassis Control Module K69 Transfer Case Control Module K71 Transmission Control Module K103 Fuel Injector Control Module K107 Drive Motor Control Module K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module K114A Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Powertrain Control Module 1 K114B Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Powertrain Control Module 2 The control module K20 turns on the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) when the requesting control module sends a message over serial data. Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition and Start Switch Signal = On or Engine = Running — For greater than 3 s Frequency the DTC runs = Continuously — After the running conditions are met Conditions for Setting the DTC An emission related DTC set in the following control module: K9 Body Control Module K16 Battery Energy Control Module K17 Electronic Brake Control Module or K160 Brake System Control Module K20 Engine Control Module K38 Chassis Control Module K69 Transfer Case Control Module K71 Transmission Control Module K103 Fuel Injector Control Module K107 Drive Motor Control Module K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module K114A Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Powertrain Control Module 1 K114B Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Powertrain Control Module 2 Actions Taken When the DTC Sets DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type A DTC Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) = On Conditions for Clearing the DTC DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type A DTC Reference Information DTC Type Reference Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Type Definitions Scan Tool Reference Control Module References Circuit/System Verification

  1. Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system: Engine Controls and Fuel Serial Data ⇒ If a related DTC is set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If a related DTC is not set
  2. Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system: – Air Conditioning System – Battery Energy Control Module – Body Systems – Brakes – Chassis Control Module – Coolant – Drive Motor Control Module – Fuel System – Hybrid/Electric Vehicle System – Transfer Case Control Module – Transmission ⇒ If a related DTC is set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If a related DTC is not set
  3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data. Verify no other DTCs are set. ⇒ If other DTCs are set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If no other DTCs are set
