Circuit/System Description For an overview of the component/system, refer to: Cruise Control Description and Operation Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition/Vehicle = On Vehicle Speed. = Greater than 40 km/h (25 MPH) Cruise Control = On Frequency the DTC runs = Continuously — After the running conditions are met — For greater than 5 s Conditions for Setting the DTC DTC P0572 Brake Pedal Position Circuit Signal » Open/Short to Ground DTC P0573 Brake Pedal Position Circuit Signal » Short to Voltage Actions Taken When the DTC Sets Cruise Control System Status = Disabled DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type C DTC Conditions for Clearing the DTC DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type C DTC Reference Information Schematic Reference Cruise Control Schematics Exterior Lights Schematics for B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor circuits going to the BCM. The B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor wiring to the K20 Engine Control Module may be found by using the following path: Build the vehicle to access the appropriate Service Information for the vehicle you are working on. From the Service Information home screen click on the link for Engine/Propulsion. Click on the Engine Controls and Fuel link for the engine family RPO that is applicable to the vehicle. Click on the link for Schematic and Routing Diagrams. Click on the link for Engine Controls Schematics. Click on the link for Engine Data Sensors — Throttle Controls and Override. The schematic shows the B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor circuits going to both the BCM and the ECM.   1. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
  2. Verify the component works as specified: Brake Pedal Position Sensor ⇒ If a related DTC is set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If a related DTC is not set
  3. Verify that no DTC listed in the DTC Descriptor Category is set. ⇒ If a related DTC is set Refer to Circuit/System Testing. ⇓ If a related DTC is not set
  4. All OK. Circuit/System Testing
  5. Ignition/Vehicle Off and all vehicle systems Off, disconnect the harness connector at the B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down.
  6. Test for less than 10 Ω between the low reference circuit at the K20 Engine Control Module side of the B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor component connector and ground. ⇒ If 10 Ω or greater 2.1. Ignition/Vehicle Off, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module. 2.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the low reference circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇒ If less than 2 Ω, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. ⇓ If less than 10 Ω
  7. Ignition On/Vehicle in Service Mode.
  8. Test for 4.8–5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit at the K20 Engine Control Module side of the B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor component connector and ground. ⇒ If less than 4.8 V 4.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module. 4.2. Test for infinite resistance between the 5 V reference circuit and ground. ⇒ If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit. 4.3. Test for less than 2 Ω in the 5 V reference circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇒ If less than 2 Ω, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. ⇒ If greater than 5.2 V ⇒ Repair the short to voltage on the circuit. ⇓ If between 4.8 and 5.2 V
  9. Ignition/Vehicle Off, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module, Ignition On/Vehicle in Service Mode. 5.1. Test for less than 1 V between the signal circuit and ground. ⇒ If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit. ⇓ If less than 1 V 5.2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit at the K20 Engine Control Module side of the B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor component connector and ground. ⇒ If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit. ⇓ If infinite resistance 5.3. Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇒ If less than 2 Ω, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
  10. Test or replace the B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor. Repair Instructions Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the repair: Diagnostic Repair Verification For control module replacement, programming, and setup refer to: Control Module References
