Assist Step Rod Replacement (B3L)

Removal Procedure

  1. Extend the assist steps in the vehicle personal optimization chapter in the owners manual.
  1. Scroll to Deploy Running Boards on the navigation screen.
  2. Put the assist steps in the extended position.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  1. Assist Step Rod Bolt (1) @ Assist Step Motor (2) » Remove

  1. Assist Step Rod Bolt (2) @ Assist Step Rear Bracket (1) » Remove
  2. Support the assist step with a suitable jack.

  1. Assist Step Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
  2. Assist Step Bracket Bolt (2) » Remove [2x]

  1. Disengage the assist step rear bracket (1) from the assist step rod (2).
  2. Remove the assist step rear bracket (1) and the assist step rod (2). Installation Procedure

  1. Install the assist step rod (1) to the assist step motor (2).
  1. Assist Step Rod Bolt (1) @ Assist Step Motor (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

  2. Engage the assist step rear bracket (1) to the assist step rod (2).

  3. Assist Step Bolt (1) » Loosely install [3x]

  4. Assist Step Bracket Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

  5. Assist Step Rod Bolt (2) @ Assist Step Rear Bracket (1) Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

  6. Assist Step Bolt (1) » Tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

  7. Remove the assist step support jack.

  8. Lower the vehicle.
