Back Body Opening Side Molding Replacement (Power Liftgate)

Warning

When a lift gate hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

Caution

Apply pressure only at the end of the liftgate/hood assist rod that you are removing or attaching. Do NOT apply pressure to the middle of the rod because damage or bending will result. Removal Procedure

1. Open and support the liftgate.

2. Using the appropriate tool, release the tabs on the back body opening side center gutter (1) and remove.

3. Release the back body opening side lower gutter retainers and remove the back body opening side lower gutter (1).

4. Release the lower actuator retainer clip using a small flat bladed tool to retract the clip slightly while removing the strut end from the corresponding ball stud.

6. Back Body Opening Side Molding Bolt (1) » Remove
7. Release the 4 back body opening side gutter retainers and remove the back body opening side gutter (2).

8. Back Body Opening Side Molding Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]

9. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

10. Back Body Opening Side Molding (2) » Remove Installation Procedure

11. Back Body Opening Side Molding (2) » Install

2. Back Body Opening Side Molding Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

3. Back Body Opening Side Gutter (2) » Install

4. Back Body Opening Side Molding Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

5. Liftgate Power Assist Actuator (1) » Install

6. Install the lower liftgate actuator clip.

9. Close the liftgate.
