2. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Outer Filler (1) » Remove

3. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

5. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

7. Instrument Panel Trim Pad Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
9. Instrument Panel Trim Pad (2) » Remove

10. Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate Bolt (1) » Remove
11. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
12. Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate (2) » Remove

15. Release the retaining tab.
16. Rotate the front floor courtesy lamp (1) a quarter turn counterclockwise to release.

18. Disconnect the electrical connector.

19. Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle (1) » Release
20. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (2) » Remove [2x]

Note

You may have to push down on the lower steering column closeout to clear the instrument panel cluster trim plate.

21. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster (1) » Remove
22. Extend the steering column to its furthest point to allow the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover to clear the instrument panel.

23. Using a small plastic trim tool, separate the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) from the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover.

24. Using a small plastic trim tool, separate the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) from the instrument panel steering column opening closeout (2).

25. Turn the steering wheel approximately 90 degrees to the left of the centered position.

27. Turn the steering wheel approximately 90 degrees to the right of the centered position.
28. Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) » Remove
29. Turn the steering wheel to the centered position.

32. { If equipped } Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Caution

With wheels of the vehicle facing straight ahead, secure the steering wheel utilizing steering column anti-rotation pin, steering column lock, or a strap to prevent rotation. Locking of the steering column will prevent damage and a possible malfunction of the SIR system. The steering wheel must be secured in position before disconnecting the following components: The steering column The intermediate shaft(s) The steering gear After disconnecting these components, do not rotate the steering wheel or move the front tires and wheels. Failure to follow this procedure may cause the SIR coil assembly to become un-centered and cause possible damage to the SIR coil. If you think the SIR coil has became un-centered, refer to your specific SIR coil’s centering procedure to re-center SIR Coil.

33. Install an appropriate device to prevent the steering column from rotating.

38. Steering Column Nut (1) » Remove [4x]
39. Disconnect the steering column electrical connectors as necessary.

42. Connect the steering column electrical connectors.

3. Steering Column Nut (1) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

4. Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) » Install

5. Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

Warning

Upon installing the floor duct to the side of the HVAC case, it is necessary to verify duct opening is completely installed, surrounding the HVAC case outlet port. Failure to do so could result in the duct falling downward, with the potential to interfere with driver’s legs and gas/brake pedal operation.

6. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side (1) » Install

7. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

8. Remove the device used to prevent the steering column from rotating.

9. Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover (1) » Install

10. { If equipped } Connect the electrical connector.

11. Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

12. Turn the steering wheel approximately 90 degrees to the right of the centered position.

13. Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

14. Turn the steering wheel approximately 90 degrees to the left of the centered position.

15. Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

16. Turn the steering wheel to the centered position.

17. Clip the instrument panel steering column opening closeout (2) to the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1).

18. Secure the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) to the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover.

19. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster (1) » Install

20. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

21. Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle (1) » Install

22. Connect the electrical connector.

23. Front Floor Courtesy Lamp (1) » Install

24. Rotate the front floor courtesy lamp (1) a quarter turn clockwise to secure.

25. Secure the retaining tab.

26. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (1) » Install

27. Instrument Panel Lower Insulator Retainer (1) » Install [2x]

28. Connect the electrical connectors.

29. Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate (2) » Install

30. Instrument Panel Switch Trim Plate Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

31. Connect the electrical connectors.

32. Instrument Panel Trim Pad (2) » Install

33. Instrument Panel Trim Pad Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

34. Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique (1) » Install

35. Instrument Panel Fuse Block Access Hole Cover (1) » Install

36. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Outer Filler (1) » Install

37. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
