Circuit/System Description The K212 Gear Shift Control Module monitors the system voltage on the B+ circuit 5140, ignition circuit 639, and enable circuit 1050 to ensure that it stays within the proper range. An open or high resistance on ground circuit 1050 may affect the modules ability to monitor and report the correct system voltage. Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition/Vehicle On Conditions for Setting the DTC B+ circuit 5140 or ignition circuit 639 is less than 9 V for more than 5 s B+ circuit 5140 or ignition circuit 639 is greater than 15 V for more than 5 s Ground circuit 1050 has an open or high resistance Actions Taken When the DTC Sets A message and/or warning indicator may be displayed to the driver The K212 Gear Shift Control Module may be disabled Conditions for Clearing the DTC The conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present A history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault Diagnostic Aids If the fault is not current, the high system voltage could be a result of overcharging with a battery charger or after jump starting the vehicle. - Ignition/Vehicle On.
- Verify there are no system voltage DTCs set as current or history in any control module. ⇒ If any system voltage DTCs are set Diagnose these DTCs first. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ⇓ If no system voltage DTCs are set
- Ignition/Vehicle Off, disconnect the connector(s) at the K212 Gear Shift Control Module.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 20 and B+ ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 1050 or the ground connection. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition/Vehicle On.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between B+ circuit terminal 9 and ground. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good 6.1. Test the B+ circuit 5140 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open or high resistance is not found 6.2. Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open 6.1. Test the B+ circuit 5140 for a short to ground ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 6.2. Replace the control module. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Verify voltage at B+ circuit terminal 9 is within 1 V of the C1 Battery voltage. ⇒ If not the specified value Repair the high resistance on B+ circuit 5140. ⇓ If the specified value
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ignition circuit terminal 17 and ground. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good 8.1. Test the ignition circuit 639 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open or high resistance is not found 8.2. Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open 8.1. Test the ignition circuit 639 for a short to ground ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 8.2. Replace the K212 Gear Shift Control Module. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates 8.3. Verify voltage at ignition circuit terminal 16 is within 1 V of the C1 Battery voltage. ⇒ If not the specified value Repair the high resistance on ignition circuit 4320. ⇓ If the specified value 8.4. Replace the k20 Engine Control Module. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Verify voltage at ignition circuit terminal 17 is within 1 V of the C1 Battery voltage. ⇒ If not the specified value Repair the high resistance on ignition circuit 639. ⇓ If the specified value
- Verify voltage at ignition circuit terminal 16 is within 1 V of the C1 Battery voltage. ⇒ If not the specified value Repair the high resistance on ignition circuit 4320. ⇓ If the specified value
