Circuit/System Description The KR12B Windshield Wiper Relay supplies B+ to the M75 Windshield Wiper Motor and is controlled by the K219 Lighting Control Module. The coil side of the relay receives a constant chassis ground and the switch side receives a constant B+. When the front wiper operation is requested, the K219 Lighting Control Module will provide voltage to the coil side of the relay. This will energize the relay, closing the high current contact, and supply B+ to the M75 Windshield Wiper Motor, enabling wiper operation. Conditions for Running the DTC The system voltage is between 9–16 V. Conditions for Setting the DTC B198B 12 A short to voltage is detected in the windshield wiper motor relay control circuit. B198B 11 A short to ground is detected in the windshield wiper motor relay control circuit. B198B 13 An open or high resistance is detected in the windshield wiper motor relay control circuit. Action Taken When the DTC Sets The K219 Exterior Lighting Control Module will not activate the wiper output. Conditions for Clearing the DTC A current DTC will clear when the condition for setting the fault is no longer present A current DTC will clear when the condition for setting the fault is no longer present. A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.   1. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the X1 connector at the X50A Fuse Block — Underhood. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
  2. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the ground circuit terminal A4 and B+. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate Repair the open/high resistance in circuit 250 or the ground connection ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
  3. Ignition ON/Vehicle in Service Mode.
  4. Verify a test lamp turns illuminates between control circuit terminal G6 and ground when requesting wiper operation. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 4.1. Test circuit 91 for a short to ground. ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found. 4.2. Test circuit 91 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open/high resistance is not found. 4.3. Replace the K219 Lighting Control Module. ⇓ If the test lamp turns illuminates
