Warning

In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

Warning

Avoid contact with HOT components. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves to avoid personal injury. Removal Procedure

1. Front Wheelhouse Liner - Right Side » Remove — Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

2. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) » Remove [2x]
3. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Remove
4. Raise the vehicle.

5. Using a suitable tool, remove the position 2 nitrogen oxides sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

6. Using a suitable tool, remove the position 3 nitrogen oxides sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

7. Using a suitable tool, remove the exhaust particulate sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

8. Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) » Loosen

9. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Remove [2x]

10. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket (1) » Remove

11. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Remove [2x]

12. Nitrogen Oxides Catalytic Converter (1) » Remove
13. Exhaust System Front Gasket (2) » Remove and DISCARD
14. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.

15. Remove the wiring harness (2) with automatic level control air supply line (3) from the retainers (1) and reposition as necessary.

16. Remove the chassis wire harness clip (1) from the automatic level control air supply reservoir.

17. Remove the 3 automatic level control air compressor bolts (1).
18. Reposition and support the automatic level control air supply reservoir (2) out of the way of the transmission support crossmember.

19. Transmission Mount Nut (1) » Remove
20. Transmission Support Crossmember Nut (2) » Remove [4x]
21. Transmission Support Crossmember Bolt (3) » Remove [4x]

22. Transmission Support Crossmember (1) » Remove
23. Lower the transmission enough to gain access to the transmission vent hose.

24. Remove the 2 transmission vent hose retainers (1).

25. Remove the transmission vent hose. (2) Installation Procedure

26. Install transmission vent hose. (2)

27. Install the 2 transmission vent hose retainers (1).

28. Raise the transmission into place.

29. Transmission Support Crossmember (1) » Install

30. Transmission Support Crossmember Bolt (3) » Install [4x]

31. Transmission Support Crossmember Nut (2) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

32. Transmission Mount Nut (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

33. Remove the transmission jack.

34. Install the wiring harness (2) with automatic level control air supply line (3) into the retainers (1).

35. Automatic Level Control Air Supply Reservoir (2) » Install

36. Install the 3 automatic level control air compressor bolts (1) and tighten. Fastener Specifications

37. Install the chassis wire harness clip (1) to the automatic level control air supply reservoir.

38. Exhaust System Front Gasket (2) » Install NEW

39. Nitrogen Oxides Catalytic Converter (1) » Install

15. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

16. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket (1) » Install

17. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Install [2x] — Fastener Specifications

18. Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) » Tighten — Fastener Specifications

19. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

Caution

Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution.

20. Exhaust Particulate Sensor (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

21. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

22. Nitrogen Oxides Sensor - Position 3 (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

23. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

24. Nitrogen Oxides Sensor - Position 2 » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

25. Lower the vehicle.

26. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Install

27. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

28. Front Wheelhouse Liner - Right Side » Install — Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

29. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
