Perform the Battery Electrical Drain/Parasitic Load Test in order to verify the cause of the low battery, such as aftermarket equipment, Customer driving habits, etc. Refer to: Battery Electrical Drain/Parasitic Load Test. OBD system DTCs may have set as a result of a low voltage condition. The DTCs need to be cleared with the scan tool. Use the scan tool to clear ALL DTCs prior to releasing the vehicle to the Customer. If the customer cannot provide the Proactive Alert, it can be obtained through Service Workbench Alerts Reference Information Schematic Reference Starting and Charging Schematics Description and Operation Proactive Alerts Description and Operation Electrical Information Reference Circuit Testing Connector Repairs Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections Wiring Repairs Special Tools Equivalent regional tools Special Tools Circuit/System Verification

  1. Verify the customer has the Proactive Alert SAC003 from OnStar, or by using the Scan Tool “Vehicle Diagnostics” » “Vehicle Proactive Alerts”, or Service Workbench Alerts ⇒ If Proactive Alert SAC003 is present. Refer to Battery Inspection/Test and Battery Charging Perform Battery Electrical Drain/Parasitic Load Test
  2. Clear the Proactive Alert Using the Scan Tool “Vehicle Diagnostics” » “Vehicle Proactive Alerts”. ⇓ If Proactive Alert SAC003 is not present.
  3. All Ok. Repair Instructions Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the repair: Diagnostic Repair Verification Battery Replacement
