| Control — Terminal 9, 10 | The output circuit is switched to 12 V to activate the component. |
| Control — Terminal 11,15 | The output circuit is switched to ground to enable the component(s). |
Conditions for Running the DTC DTCs related to the following system/component = Not Set – B9 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor – B214 Reductant Temperature Sensor – E53 Reductant Tank Heater – K115 Reductant Control Module Ambient Air Temperature & Reductant Temperature = Within 30°C (54°F) of each other — During engine startup Engine = Running Ignition = Off — For greater than 8 h Ignition Voltage = Greater than 11 V Reductant Heater Command = ON Reductant Level = Greater than 5 L Reductant Temperature = −14 to −40°C (7 to −40°F) — During engine startup Frequency the DTC runs = Once — Per ignition cycle — After the running conditions are met — For greater than 600 s Conditions for Setting the DTC Reductant Temperature = Not within a calibrated range Actions Taken When the DTC Sets DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type B DTC Conditions for Clearing the DTC DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type B DTC Reference Information Schematic Reference Engine Controls Schematics Connector End View Reference Master Electrical Component List Electrical Information Reference Circuit Testing Connector Repairs Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections Wiring Repairs DTC Type Reference Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Type Definitions Scan Tool Reference Control Module References Circuit/System Verification
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system: B9 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor B214 Reductant Temperature Sensor E53 Reductant Tank Heater K115 Reductant Control Module ⇒ If any of the DTCs are set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If none of the DTC are set
- Verify the condition does not exist: Warning Message = Service Emission System / Service Exhaust Fluid System ⇒ If the condition exists Refer to: Contaminants-in-Diesel Exhaust Fluid Diagnosis ⇓ If no condition exists
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
- Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC sets Replace the component: E53 Reductant Tank Heater ⇓ If the DTC is not set
- All OK.
