Engine Controls and Fuel - 3.0L LM2 Diesel | Diagnostic Information and Procedures | Document ID: 5509063 Diagnostic Instructions Perform the Diagnostic System Check prior to using this diagnostic procedure: Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Review the description of Strategy Based Diagnosis: Strategy Based Diagnosis An overview of each diagnostic category can be found here: Diagnostic Procedure Instructions DTC Descriptor DTC P2BAA Exhaust Nitrogen Oxides Concentration High - Low Reductant Consumption Circuit/System Description For an overview of the component/system, refer to: Exhaust Aftertreatment System Description The reductant pump is commanded on by the control module to pressurize the reductant to a predetermined pressure within the reductant fluid pipe. The control module then uses the reductant injector to perform a controlled injection. The control module calculates the amount of reductant delivered by monitoring the pressure drop inside the reductant fluid pipe during the test. The control module then compares this calculated value against a calibrated threshold. If the result is not within the expected range this DTC will set. Conditions for Running the DTC DTCs related to the following system/component = Not Set – B9 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor – B17 Barometric Pressure Sensor – B34 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor – B65 Intake Manifold Pressure and Air Temperature Sensor – B75C Multifunction Intake Air Sensor – B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor – B195 Nitrogen Oxides Sensor – Q14 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve – Q17 Fuel Injector – Reductant System Ambient Air Temperature = Warmer than −20°C (−4°F) Barometric Pressure = Greater than 70 kPa (10.2 PSI) Engine = Running Particulate Filter Regeneration Status ≠ Active Reductant Tank Status = Not Frozen Frequency the DTC runs = Continuously After the running conditions are met Conditions for Setting the DTC Reductant Injection Quantity = Not within a calibrated range Action Taken When the DTC Sets Action Taken When the DTC Sets DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type A DTC .   1. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
  2. Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system: B9 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor B17 Barometric Pressure Sensor B34 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor B65 Intake Manifold Pressure and Air Temperature Sensor B75C Multifunction Intake Air Sensor B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor B195 Nitrogen Oxides Sensor Q14 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Q17 Fuel Injector Reductant System ⇒ If a related DTC is set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If a related DTC is not set
  3. Verify DTC P2BAA is not set. ⇒ If the DTC is set Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If the DTC is not set
  4. All OK. Circuit/System Testing
  5. Perform the following procedure/test: Contaminants-in-Diesel Exhaust Fluid Diagnosis. ⇒ If a condition exists Repair as necessary ⇓ If no condition exists
  6. Perform the scan tool function: Reductant System Leak Test
  7. Verify the scan tool parameter: Reductant Pressure = Greater than 450 kPa (65.3 PSI) ⇒ If less than 450 kPa (65.3 PSI) 3.1. Perform the scan tool function: Reductant Pump — 50% 3.2. Verify the scan tool parameter: Desired Reductant Pump Speed = Reductant Pump Speed ⇒ If not equal Refer to: DTC P149F, P208A-P208D, P214E, or P2C11 ⇓ If equal Replace the component: A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly ⇓ If 450 kPa (65.3 PSI) or greater
  8. Verify there are no leaks, kinks or restrictions in the reductant lines. ⇒ If a condition exists Repair as necessary ⇓ If no condition exists
  9. Perform the scan tool function: Reductant Fluid Injector Quantity Test
  10. Verify the procedure/test passes. ⇒ If the procedure/test does not pass Repair as necessary ⇓ If the procedure/test passes
  11. Perform the scan tool function: Reductant System Tamper Service Bay Test ⇒ If the procedure/test does not pass A condition with the system still exists » Refer to step 1 ⇓ If the procedure/test passes
  12. All OK. Repair Instructions Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the repair. Emission Reduction Fluid Tank Replacement — A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly Reductant Fluid Injector Replacement Repair Verification
  1. Perform the scan tool function: Reductant System Tamper Service Bay Test ⇒ If the procedure/test does not pass Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If the procedure/test passes
  2. All OK.
