The battery must be disconnected to prevent the brake master cylinder from pressurizing the hydraulic system during its automated self diagnostic tests that can possibly occur when a door is opened or the key transmitter is activated. Failure to follow this precaution may cause personal injury.

Caution

This brake caliper is coated with a specialized paint. Use care when handling and servicing to ensure the paint does not get chipped or scratched. Clean any brake fluid from painted surfaces with denatured alcohol, or equivalent, as soon as possible.

Note

Only the left front wheel is equipped with the front disc brake pad wear sensor. Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
3. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

4. { If equipped } Front Brake Pad Wear Sensor Harness Retainer (2) » Remove
5. Front Brake Hose Bracket Bolt (1) » Remove
6. Front Brake Hose Bracket (3) » Remove

7. Front Brake Hose Fitting (1) » Remove
8. Front Brake Washer (2) » Remove and DISCARD [2x]
9. Front Brake Hose (3) @ Front Brake Caliper » Remove
10. Plug the front brake hose outlet to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
11. Plug the front brake caliper inlet to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

12. Front Brake Front Pipe Nut (1) » Remove

13. Front Brake Hose Clip (3) » Remove

14. Front Brake Hose (2) » Remove

15. Plug the front brake hose inlet to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

16. Cap the front brake front pipe outlet to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination. Installation Procedure

17. Remove the cap from the front brake front pipe outlet.

18. Remove the plug from the front brake hose inlet.

19. Front Brake Hose (2) » Install

20. Front Brake Hose Clip (3) » Install

5. Front Brake Front Pipe Nut (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

6. Remove the plug from the front brake hose outlet.

7. Remove the plug the front brake caliper inlet.

8. Front Brake Washer (2) » Install NEW [2x]

9. Front Brake Hose (3) @ Front Brake Caliper » Install

10. Front Brake Hose Fitting (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

11. Front Brake Hose Bracket (3) » Install

12. Front Brake Hose Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

13. { If equipped } Front Brake Pad Wear Sensor Harness Retainer (2) » Install

14. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

15. Bleed the brake system. Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding

16. Check for brake system leaks.

17. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

18. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
