Circuit/System Description When the S141 Liftgate Window Release Switch - Exterior is pressed, the K9 Body Control Module will provide B+ to the control circuit 6188 which energizes the PCB KR162 Liftgate Window Unlatch Relay. Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to the relay switched input and the relay coil is always grounded. This allows battery positive voltage from the relay switched input to flow through the switch contacts and out the relay switched output to the control circuit 4089. Conditions for Running the DTC KR162 Liftgate Window Unlatch Relay — The component is commanded On Conditions for Setting the DTC B1769 11 Circuit 6188= Short to Ground — For greater than 60 s B1769 12 Circuit 6188= Short to Battery — For greater than 60 s B1769 13 Circuit 6188 or Circuit 2050= Open — For greater than 60 s Actions Taken When the DTC Sets M33 Liftgate Window Latch = Inoperative Conditions for Clearing the DTC A current DTC will clear when the diagnostic runs and passes. A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles.   2. Operate the component: S141 Liftgate Window Release Switch - Exterior » Pressed Verify the component produces a clicking sound: M33 Liftgate Window Latch ⇒ If the component does not produce a sound Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If the component produces a sound

  5. Disconnect the electrical connector: X1 @ X53A Body Wiring Harness Junction Block - Rear
  6. Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 5 and B+. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 3.1. Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 2050 or the ground connection. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
  7. Connect the X1 harness connector at the X53A Body Wiring Harness Junction Block - Rear. Disconnect the X7 harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module, ignition ON.
  8. Verify the M33 Liftgate Window Latch is not activated. ⇒ If the M33 Liftgate Window Latch is activated 5.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the X53A Body Wiring Harness Junction Block - Rear, ignition ON. 5.2. Test for less than 1 V between the K9 Body Control Module control circuit terminal 17 X7 and ground. ⇒ If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit. ⇒ If less than 1 V, test or replace the X53A Body Wiring Harness Junction Block - Rear. ⇓ If the M33 Liftgate Window Latch is not activated
  9. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the control circuit terminal 17 X7 and B+.
  10. Verify the M33 Liftgate Window Latch activates. ⇒ If the M33 Liftgate Window Latch does not activate 7.1. Ignition OFF, remove the jumper wire, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the X53A  Body Wiring Harness Junction Block - Rear. 7.2. Test for infinite resistance between the K9 Body Control Module control circuit terminal 17 X7 and ground. ⇒ If less than Infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit. ⇓ If infinite resistance 7.3. Test for less than 2 Ω in the control circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇒ If less than 2 Ω, test or replace the X53A Body Wiring Harness Junction Block - Rear. ⇓ If the M33 Liftgate Window Latch activates
  11. Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
