Front Seat Belt Anchor Plate Tensioner Replacement

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced. Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

2. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, gently pry upwards to release the retaining clips.

4. Starting at the rear of the front side door sill garnish molding (1) pull upward at the b-pillar joint to disengage the garnish molding.
5. Work your way forward disengaging all the front side door sill garnish molding retaining clips and then pull rearward to disengage the 2 retaining clips on the forward vertical wall.

7. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
8. Pull upward from both sides of the rear side door sill garnish molding (1) to disengage retaining clips front to rear.
9. { If equipped } Disconnect the electrical connector.

11. Move the front seat fully forward.
12. Use a flat bladed plastic tool between the center pillar center trim panel (1) and the center pillar upper trim panel to disengage the upper retaining clips (2).
13. Pull from both sides of the center pillar center trim panel (1) to release the middle and lower retaining clips (2) .

15. Front Seat Belt Anchor Plate Tensioner Cover (1) » Remove
16. Front Seat Belt Anchor Plate Tensioner Bolt (2) » Remove
17. Remove the seat belt from the anchor plate.

18. Use a flat bladed plastic tool to remove the center pillar lower garnish molding lower hole cover (1).

Note

When replacing the center pillar lower trim panel, feed the seat belt tensioner through the panel.

19. Use a flat bladed plastic tool between the center pillar lower trim panel (1) and the center pillar (2) to disengage retaining clips.
20. Pull upward from the front and rear of the panel to disengage the retaining clips from the rear side door sill trim plate bracket (3) and the front side door sill trim plate bracket (4).

22. Disconnect the electrical connector.

Caution

2. Front Seat Belt Nut (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
3. Connect the electrical connector.

Note

When replacing the center pillar lower trim panel, feed the seat belt tensioner through the panel.

5. Center Pillar Lower Garnish Molding Lower Hole Cover (1) » Install

6. Install the seat belt to the anchor plate.

7. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps: 7.1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth. 7.2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive. 7.3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 7.4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.

9. Front Seat Belt Anchor Plate Tensioner Cover (1) » Install

10. Center Pillar Center Trim Panel (1) » Install

11. { If equipped } Connect the electrical connector.

12. Rear Side Door Sill Garnish Molding (1) » Install

13. Front Side Door Sill Garnish Molding (1) » Install

14. Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover (1) » Install

15. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
