This diagnostic directs the technician to the appropriate system diagnosis. Diagnostic Aids When ambient temperatures are below 0°C (32°F), the fuel tank pickup screen may be iced over from water in the fuel tank or paraffin crystals may have plugged the fuel filter. Diesel fuel can precipitate paraffin wax in low temperature conditions which could clog the filter.
