Circuit/System Description The B20A Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch is a normally open switch that closes when the brake fluid is below the minimum level. The switch is magnetically actuated by a float. The K160 Brake System Control Module monitors the switch on signal circuit 333 and the switch receives a constant ground on ground circuit 1151. Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition/Vehicle ON Conditions for Setting the DTC DTC C004B 15 Circuit 333 is open or shorted voltage Circuit 1151 is open Action Taken When the DTC Sets Traction/Stability Control Indicator is on A message and/or warning indicator may be displayed to the driver. Conditions for Clearing the DTC The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.   1. Ignition/Vehicle Off
  2. Verify the brake fluid level is not low. ⇒ If the fluid is low Repair as necessary ⇓ If the fluid is not low
  3. Refer to Circuit/System Testing. Circuit/System Testing
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the B20A Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch.
  5. Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground terminal 2 and B+ ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 1151 or the ground connection. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
  6. Verify the scan tool Brake Fluid Level Switch parameter is greater than 10 V ⇒ If the parameter is less than 10 V 3.1. Test circuit 333 for a short to ground. ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 3.2. Replace the K160 Brake System Control Module. ⇓ If the parameter is greater than 10 V
  7. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between signal terminal 1 and ground terminal 2.
  8. Verify the scan tool Brake Fluid Level Switch parameter is less than 1 V. ⇒ If the parameter is 1 V or greater 5.1. Test circuit 333 for a short to voltage. ⇒ If an short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to voltage is found is not found 5.2. Test circuit 333 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a open/high resistance is not found 5.3. Replace the K160 Brake System Control Module. ⇓ If the parameter is less than 1 V
  9. Replace the B20A Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch. Repair Instructions Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the repair. Control Module References for control module replacement, programming, and setup.
