Airbag Side Impact Rear Sensor Replacement (with 9C1)

Warning

Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary: The seat cushion frame The seat recliner, if equipped The seat adjuster The seat back frame Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced. Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

2. Place the rear seat (1) in the fold and tumble position.

3. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

5. Liftgate Weatherstrip (1) » Reposition

6. Liftgate Lock Striker Cover (1) » Remove

7. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
8. Rear End Trim Finish Panel (1) » Remove

9. Rear Seat Belt Retractor Sleeve (1) » Reposition
10. Rear Seat Belt Anchor Plate Bolt (2) » Remove

12. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Remove

14. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

Note

Feed the rear seat belt opening bezel and rear seat belt through the body lock upper trim panel.

16. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

19. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

21. Convenience Net Retainer (1) » Remove
22. Cargo Tie Down Loop Bolt Cap (2) » Remove

25. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

Note

Integral sensor assembly bolt uses Left Hand threads. Use counterclockwise rotation to loosen bolt at TORX® tip end. If accessing at pan head end of the bolt, use clockwise rotation to loosen bolt.

27. Loosen the fastener and slide the sensor out of the keyhole slot.

28. The bolt is integral to the sensor, Do NOT remove separately.

29. Disconnect the electrical connector.

31. If handling or scrapping an SIR component, perform these steps: Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping Installation Procedure

32. Connect the electrical connector.

33. Slide the sensor (1) into the keyhole slot.

5. Cargo Tie Down Loop (4) » Install

6. Cargo Tie Down Loop Bolt (3) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

7. Cargo Tie Down Loop Bolt Cap (2) » Install

8. Convenience Net Retainer (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

9. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding (1) » Install

10. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

11. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding (1) » Install

Note

Feed the rear seat belt opening bezel and rear seat belt through the body lock upper trim panel.

12. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Install

13. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

14. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

15. Rear Seat Belt Opening Bezel (1) » Install

16. Rear Seat Belt Anchor Plate Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

17. Rear Seat Belt Retractor Sleeve (1) » Reposition

18. Rear End Trim Finish Panel (1) » Install

19. Liftgate Lock Striker Cover (1) » Install

22. Return the rear seat (1) to the original position.
