Sunroof Sunshade Motor Replacement (Short Wheel Base)

Caution

If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced. Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

2. Move the front seat fully forward.
3. Use a flat bladed plastic tool between the center pillar center trim panel (1) and the center pillar upper trim panel to disengage the upper retaining clips (2).
4. Pull from both sides of the center pillar center trim panel (1) to release the middle and lower retaining clips (2).

8. Pull the center pillar upper trim panel (1) toward the inside of the vehicle to disengage the retaining clips.

13. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
14. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Reposition

15. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
16. Pull the body side rear window garnish molding (1) outwards enough to access the tether fastener.

20. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

22. Place the coat hook (2) in the open position.

25. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs on the rear seat position center reading and courtesy lamp (1).

26. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs on the cargo center courtesy lamp  (1).

30. Using a suitable trim tool, gently pry and pull downwards on the rear seat belt opening bezel  (2) to release the retaining clip.

32. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs.
33. Rear Seat Center Belt Opening Bezel - 3rd Row Seat (1) » Remove
34. Feed the 3rd row seat center belt through the rear seat center belt opening bezel (1).

35. Lower the right rear section of the headlining trim panel (1).

36. Disconnect the electrical connector.

40. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps: 2.1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth. 2.2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive. 2.3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air. 2.4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

3. Sunroof Actuator Motor Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

4. Connect the electrical connector.

5. Install the right rear section of the headlining trim panel (1).

6. Feed the 3rd row seat center belt through the rear seat center belt opening bezel (1).

12. Apply pressure upward on the cargo center courtesy lamp (1) to engage the retaining tabs.

13. Apply pressure upward on the rear seat position center reading and courtesy lamp (1) to engage the retaining tabs.

19. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

Note

Position the body side rear window garnish molding tether in the same position as before the molding removal.

20. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding (1) » Install

21. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Install

22. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

23. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

24. Liftgate Weatherstrip (1) » Reposition

25. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Install

26. Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

27. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

28. Align 6 retaining clips (2) with the upper and lower trim panels.

29. Center Pillar Center Trim Panel (1) » Install

30. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling

31. Perform the necessary initialization procedure. Sunroof/Sunshade Motor Initialization
