Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing
Special Tools GE-45037 A/C Oil Injector Draining Procedure
- Remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle. Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement
- Record the amount of oil removed from the refrigerant system during refrigerant recovery. This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.
- Drain as much refrigerant oil as possible from both the suction and discharge ports of the removed compressor into a clean, graduated container.
- Measure and record the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor. This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.
- Inspect oil drained from the removed compressor. Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Diagnosis
- Properly discard the used refrigerant oil. Balancing Procedure with Service Compressor Replacement (Flushing Not Required)
- Before installing the compressor, calculate the total amount of oil drained from the compressor and collected by the recovery equipment.
- If the sum of the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor and the amount of oil removed during refrigerant recovery is: LESS THAN 40 ml (1.4 ounces), no balancing is required. Install the replacement compressor as is. It contains 40 ml (1.4 ounces) of refrigerant oil. MORE THAN 40 ml (1.4 ounces), additional oil is required. Subtract 40 ml (1.4 oz) from the sum of removed oil (oil drained + oil recovered). ADD the calculated difference to the A/C compressor or by filling the A/C system using GE-45037 A/C Oil Injector. Balancing Procedure with Service Compressor Replacement (Flushing Required)
- Flush the A/C system. Flushing will remove all the oil from the A/C system. Flushing
- Remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle. Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement The A/C system must be replenished with proper amount of refrigerant oil. Approximate Fluid Capacities
- Before installing the compressor, deduct the amount of oil shipped with the compressor 40 ml (1.4 oz) from the total amount of the system oil. Approximate Fluid Capacities
- Add the calculated amount of oil to the A/C compressor or by filling the A/C system using GE- 45037 A/C Oil Injector. Balancing Procedure (Flushing Required Only)
- Flush the A/C system. Flushing will remove all the oil from the A/C system. Flushing
- Remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle. Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement
- Drain the oil from both the suction and discharge ports of the removed compressor into a clean, graduated container.
- Add the total system capacity of refrigerant oil to the A/C system by filling the A/C compressor or by filling the A/C system using GE-45037 A/C Oil Injector. Approximate Fluid Capacities
