Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Replacement (with nwm)

Warning

Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

3. Front Side Door Armrest Bracket Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]
4. Front Side Door Pull Handle Bracket (2) » Remove

5. Route front side door inside handle cable through hole in deflector (1).
6. Front Side Door Water Deflector (1) » Remove

7. Place the front side door window in the full up position and tape in place.
8. Front Side Door Window Regulator Sash Retainer (1) » Release [2x]
9. Place the front side door window regulator in the full down position.

10. Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

11. Front Side Door Window Regulator Nut (1) » Remove [2x]
12. Reposition the rear section of the front side door window regulator (2).

15. Front Side Door Access Hole Plug (1) » Remove
16. Front Side Door Lock Cover Bolt (2) » Remove

17. Reposition the front side door weatherstrip to access the inboard lock cover bolt.

19. Front Side Door Lock Cover (2) » Remove

20.  Front Side Door Outside Handle Access Hole Plug (1) » Remove
21. Pull the door handle to the open position then turn the front side door outside handle bracket rear bolt (2) counterclockwise until it clicks.

23. Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)
24. Remove the harness retainers from the front side door outside handle bracket.

25. Slide the front side door outside handle (1) rearward and then outwards in a swing motion releasing the rear part of the handle from the front side door outside handle bracket.

26. Swing the front part of the front side door outside handle (1) to remove.

29. Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

30. Front Side Door Latch Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]

32. Remove the front side door outside handle bracket (1) and the front side door latch (2) as an assembly.

34. From the back side of the front side door outside handle bracket, use a suitable tool to push up and down on the door lock cylinder retainers (1) releasing the retainer from the door lock cylinder (2).

35. With the door lock cylinder retainer released, pull the door lock cylinder (1) rearward releasing it from the front side door outside handle bracket. Installation Procedure

Note

Ensure that the door lock cylinder is engaged all the way into the front side door outside handle bracket lock cylinder retainer. Insert the key into the door lock cylinder, turn left to right checking for binding before installing to the vehicle.

1. Install the door lock cylinder (1) into the front side door outside handle bracket, by pushing forward locking the door lock cylinder (1) into the retainer.

2. Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Rod (1) » Install

3. Install the front side door outside handle bracket (1) and the front side door latch (2) as an assembly.

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution.

4. Front Side Door Latch Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

5. Front Side Door Latch Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

6. Connect the electrical connector. (1)

7. Front Side Door Outside Handle Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

8. Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Bezel Insulator (1) » Install

9. Install the front part of the front side door outside handle (1) into the front side door outside handle bracket.

10. Install the rear part of the front side door outside handle (1) into the front side door outside handle bracket and slide the front side door outside handle forward.

11. Connect the harness retainers to the front side door outside handle bracket.

12. Connect the electrical connector. (1)

13. Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Bezel (1) » Install

14. Hold the front side door outside handle outwards in the open position.

15. Front Side Door Outside Handle Bracket Rear Bolt (2) » Tighten — Fastener Specifications

16. Test door handle for correct operation. If handle does not operate correctly, adjust front side door outside handle counterbalance.

Insert theEL-42059 (2) and grasp the counterbalance lever (1) . 18. Pull theEL-42059 (2) until the counterbalance lever (1) is fully rotated and hold in this position. 19. Using a T25 Torx ™ driver(4), turn the front side door outside handle bracket rear bolt (3) counterclockwise until it clicks.

Front Side Door Outside Handle (2) » Install 21. Lightly press the front side door outside handle (2) to ensure it is in position. 22. Using a T25 Torx ™ driver (1), turn the front side door outside handle bracket rear bolt clockwise until the handle (2) is fully seated. 23. Front Side Door Outside Handle Bracket Rear Bolt » Tighten — Fastener Specifications

24. Front Side Door Lock Cover (2) » Install

25. Front Side Door Lock Cover Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

26. Install the front side door weatherstrip.

27. Front Side Door Lock Cover Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

28. Front Side Door Access Hole Plug (1) » Install

29. Front Side Door Window Channel Retainer (1) » Install

30. Front Side Door Window Channel Retainer Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

31. Position the rear section of the front side door window regulator (2) to the original location.

32. Front Side Door Window Regulator Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

33. Connect the electrical connector. (1)

34. Place the window regulator sash retainer (1) in the full up position.

35. Remove the tape holding the front side door window in the full up position.

36. Ensure the front side door window is properly seated in the window sash.

Warning

When installing the water deflector, ensure that the water deflector is securely fastened to the door inner before installing the door trim. An improper seal of the water deflector against the door inner may affect the ability of the front door pressure sensor to detect a side collision. This may result in improper airbag deployment and could cause bodily injury.

Note

When reinstalling water deflector ensure integral locators are installed properly and that water deflector is secured and leakproof.

37. Route front side door inside handle cable through hole in deflector (1).

40. Front Side Door Armrest Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

41. Front Side Door Trim » Install — Front Side Door Trim Removal and Installation

42. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
