This diagnostic verifies the vehicle is I/M ready by confirming the I/M System Status monitors are Complete and that no Permanent DTCs are set. Conditions for Updating the I/M System Status

Note

New vehicles may not report the I/M System Status as Complete for certain post catalyst oxygen sensor or heated oxygen sensor 2 monitors prior to 1127 km (700 mi). A system monitor is Complete when either all the DTCs comprising the monitor have run and passed, or when any one of the DTCs comprising the monitor has illuminated the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). Conditions for Clearing Permanent DTC The On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system determines the malfunction that caused the Permanent DTC to be stored no longer exists and is not commanding the MIL. Note

Many DTC related repairs will instruct the technician to clear the DTC information. Clearing the DTC will reset the I/M System Status monitors to Incomplete. Performing the I/M Complete System Set Procedure will set each of the I/M System Status monitors to Complete.

2. Verify there are no Permanent DTCs set » Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇒ If a Permanent DTC is set 2.1. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. — For each Permanent DTC set. 2.2. Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC sets » Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If the DTC is not set & The Permanent DTC cleared 2.3. Refer to step 3 ⇓ If a Permanent DTC is not set
